Tarkov now runs on seasons instead of classic wipes: Season 1 Kord Breach is live and only seasonal characters reset when it ends, your main is permanent. See the season page for modifiers, achievements and battle pass rewards.
Classic wipes ended with Escape from Tarkov 1.0: resets now come as seasons and only affect the optional seasonal character. The current Season 1, Kord Breach, started on August 3, 2026. In its preliminary roadmap published on August 27, Battlestate Games listed the next major step as "December 2026, Patch 1.4.0" without giving a day. Community sites estimate December 7; the countdown above updates once the official date is announced.
Who does the reset affect?
Your main PMC is not deleted when a season ends. Your stash, hideout, trader loyalty, tasks and Kappa stay as they are. The only thing that resets is the seasonal character, which players create if they want a fresh start. PvE is not affected by seasons either.

How to predict the date
BSG usually announces dates in the final week. The most reliable signs of an upcoming season are a technical test (PTE) for the new patch, a maintenance announcement on the official X and Discord channels, and a date given on developer streams. The month on the roadmap is a target; major updates have slipped by a few weeks before.
Preparing for the new season
If you plan to play a seasonal character, the first days are spent at trader level 1 and 2. We collected which guns can be built with what at those levels on the early wipe builds page: 28 guns unlock at trader level 1 and 22 at level 2.
